Frequently asked questions

What is Chinvar?

Chinvar is an online, game-based course that teaches the Indian stock market from basics to advanced concepts — charts, candlestick patterns like the Hammer, strategy, SIPs and mutual funds, equity, intraday risk rules, IPOs, currency, forex, commodities and crypto — through lessons and the Alpha Arena game, in English and Hinglish.

Is Chinvar free?

Chinvar is completely free. All 13 lessons, all 13 Alpha Arena levels, the certificate, live markets, news, paper trading, calculators, the Daily Bull vs Bear challenge and friend duels cost nothing — there is no payment or subscription.

Does Chinvar give stock tips or buy/sell calls?

No. Chinvar is an educational website and is not registered with SEBI as an Investment Adviser or Research Analyst. Nothing on the site is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any security.

Will this course make me money in the stock market?

No course can promise profits. Chinvar teaches how markets work and how to manage risk. Investments in the securities market are subject to market risks; SEBI studies found most individual F&O and intraday traders lose money, which is why the course focuses on risk control and practice with virtual money.

What is the Hammer candlestick pattern?

A Hammer is a candle with a small body near the top and a long lower wick at least twice the body's length. After a downtrend it shows that sellers pushed the price down but buyers pushed it back up — a possible reversal clue that needs confirmation from the next candle. The stop-loss usually goes just below the Hammer's low.

What is the difference between Nifty 50 and Bank Nifty?

Nifty 50 tracks 50 large companies across sectors on NSE and reflects the overall market. Bank Nifty (Nifty Bank) tracks the most liquid large banking stocks, so it is more concentrated and usually swings more than Nifty 50.

Is paper trading on Chinvar real money?

No. Paper trading on Chinvar uses ₹10,00,000 of virtual money and simulated prices so you can practise orders, stop-losses and targets without any risk.

Is the Chinvar certificate a SEBI or NISM qualification?

No. The Chinvar certificate is an achievement certificate for completing our educational game. Each certificate has a unique ID that can be verified on the site, but it is not a SEBI, NISM or regulatory qualification.

Is forex trading legal in India?

Resident individuals in India may trade currency only in permitted pairs, such as USD/INR, through SEBI-registered brokers on recognised Indian exchanges. Trading on unauthorised overseas forex apps is not permitted under FEMA; the RBI publishes an Alert List of such platforms.

Are the Daily Bull vs Bear challenge and duels a betting game?

No. They are free to play, use simulated charts, and have no entry fee, prizes or rewards of monetary value. Scores are only for learning and fun.
